Weekend fun!

Hi friends! I had such a relaxed weekend filled with friends and family.  My girlfriends from college came into town and I met her childhood best friend! It was such a good time.  We all went over our girl Jordan’s house and literally had some wine and danced like we were 13 years old. I love my girls and cherish every moment with them.

Sunday was very relaxed as well! We went to visit my sister’s church and I definitely enjoyed the service.  He preached about the importance of paying tithes with the correct attitude as well.  I always feel good about paying tithes and it was beneficial to hear his perspective on it. Oh my gosh check out Bug! I have the cutest niece ever.

My pretty girl friends!

My little cousinKayla came to church with us too! She is adorable and has the sweetest heartever.  She was a big help today andactually helped me with one of my projects. I purchased this item where I can display my jewelryand it came out sooooooo cute!

This is the inconvenient container that I was using….

This is what I purchased!!

I had so much fun this weekend:) Hope you did too! Today is a big day for me, I start my new job as a social worker! KBye!

Back in the day

Oh look, today is throw- back Thursday!  I am currently watching Gossip Girls over my sister’s house.  I absolutely love this show it makes me want to take a vacation to Florida or New York! I think it’s the setting, the fashion, and their different lifestyles that I just love watching.  I recommend you watching it if you have Netflix :]My niece, Bug is sound asleep, wasted off the boob as my sister likes to call it lol. I love cuddling with her before I start my new position next week!! Check out these throwback pictures of me and my girls on the beach!

I had a lot of fun on this vacation and can’t wait for this summer! Kbye

Chiiiiiiii Town

Chicago, you’re so beautiful! I had so much fun yesterday.   I went to visit a church that my father absolutely loves and it was a good service.  Once church was over we went site seeing! I just love big cities and the uniqueness of visiting different downtown areas.  The older I get, history becomes more fascinating to me.

Parking is extremely overwhelming in Chicago.  We went to Gino’s pizza and it cost 8 bucks to park across the street! I am spoiled because parking in Indianapolis (where I live) is 1.50 for an hour to park.  Gino’s pizzeria was a nice restaurant.  The decorations made me feel like I was in France. Beautiful  baby! Check it out! Kbye

 Just a city girl!

How cute are my parents!? xoxo

I work out

Even if I don’t make it to the gym everyday..I think about it! I am obsessed with eating healthy and working out.  I tried incorporating the planks in my workout and let me tell you….it is so difficult after a workout yet rewarding at the same time:] I had me a good sweat going on!!!

My goal: Burn 500 calories a day. I can do it!  It was so much easier as a college student because I had all the free time in the world. It can be done and it will.

Shout out to my iPad and Netflix! It makes my workouts easier.

Check me out! 3 sets of 30 sec planks! breathe for 5 sec in between

Oh yeahh look at my sweat!:)

Happy Hump Day

RETRO Wednesday

I think it will be cool to do a Retro Wednesday flashback and post different songs that I used to love back in the day.  I love music! Mostly slow jams :)

I was texting one of my girls trying to figure out what song used to be our jam and we thought of DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince “Summer Time.”  I know I am extremely early but I can’t help it! I am so ready for the summer.  All I need is a beach/pool, swimsuit, margarita, towel, friends, and music and I am a happy camper.  Do you guys remember this song?

Ps, have you noticed it stays lighter outside past 5pm?ohh yeaa :) Kbye.

The New Normal ?

I took a screenshot of my tweet yesterday because I am passionate about this topic.  For those who don’t know about Twitter..it is another social network that allows you to express yourself without seeing a timeline full of pictures.  If you’re on twitter, you should follow me @BoldenBeautiful.  I will follow you back as long as you don’t tweet inappropriate things:]

Talking on the phone is greater than texting. This generation is obsessed with texting! Myself included lol. My mom even notices and says comments like “where is the intimacy today?  Your father and I used to stay on the phone for hours when we were younger and we never wanted to hang up.”  I can’t even argue back because she is correct!  I made a vow to myself that the next relationship I enter…will not be consumed with text messages.  Text messaging should be used for emergencies or just thinking about you during the day resources.  If it's a serious topic.. I want to hear your voice.  That goes for my best girlfriends too! My family has zero problems calling me..lol!  What are your thoughts on this topic?  Can you keep a spicy relationship via text messaging? Kbye!

Mini Glam session

I took time out to do a face mask to clean out my pores and it was so refreshing!  I also painted my nails just like a picture I saw on Pinterest and not to toot my own horn but I did a bomb job :]  I did all the girly things tonight except my hair and that should have been my top priority.  I guess I will continue doing the wash, moose, crinkle and go hairstyle until I have the energy to straighten it.  It takes about 45 minutes to straighten my hair but my girlfriends can do it faster and that's why I am a bugaboo.  There’s nothing like a clean, rejuvenating face to start the week.  Kbye!

All done:)

#Throwback picture! My sister straightened my hair..Now do you see why I am always asking my family/friends
to help me straighten it? Yikes!

Sunday Funday

Oh hi! I am in a very relaxed mood because…It's Sunday afternoon, it’s pouring raining, and I just got out of church! The rain brings so much peace and I love cuddling up on the couch while listening to the rain drops fall.  Today’s message was extremely powerful.    My pastor talked about "submission" and how the society struggles with it today.

We are supposed to be submitting to those who have authority over us.  Interesting statement right?   She talked about how we are supposed to submit to God, our spouses, employers, church institutions or anything else that claims authority.  When we submit to something or someone it is an act of obedience.   A lot of people struggle with submission because everyone wants to take charge and be the leader.  Myself included. She mentioned the covenant between a husband and wife and how the wife is to submit to her husband.  Even if he is wrong, she still must submit considering he is the man of the house.  Yikes!  Then she directed it to us single folks out here and how we are required to submit to God and not things that are of this world.
There are 24 hours in a day and we spend 8 to 12 hours of those hours at work.  With that being said, we are submitting to our job by obeying our managers/coworkers, policies, or other obligations that might be hard to submit to. For example, if your employer decides to drastically change your work hours without your consideration..submit and be obedient.  It could be a test that God wants to see you pass and he can change your situation if we learn to SUBMIT.

Same for paying tithes to your church institution.  Wherever, we are getting spiritually fed at is where we should pay our tithes.  Wherever your church home is..submit by giving the Lord his tithes and offering.  Submit yourself to God and he will become your covering.
Lastly, when we submit to things, it doesn’t mean you agree all the time.  It simply means that you understand your position.  I am working on this. Submit Submit Submit. Kbye!

Zumba

Stop, Drop, Pause

Yes, that's right.. I am a crazy zumba fan.  Zumba for those who don't know is a Latin inspired dance fitness program. It is SO much fun!  I took my first class with my sister last year and fell in LOVE.  It was like going to the club..but better because there were no men in my class. Sorry guys if you do go to Zumba..no disrespect. Just being honest...but the set up of the class is perfect in my book.  All I need is a dance studio, the lights kind of dim,  a cute instructor, a water bottle of course, and a class full of folks ready to twerk!

Zumba makes you  feel sexy while burning off the calories at the same time..Everyone is in their own leeeetle worlds,  just groovin to the music.  With that being said, my sister is already an instructor and we are going to partner up together and start our own class sessions as soon as I audition.  Sexy Zumba Sisters? yes please.   She loves Zumba just as much as I do and we are so excited!!

Eye dreading

I remember having a conversation with one of my girlfriends about  how much she loves getting her eyebrows professionally threaded.  I told her how I was against it because I hate pain.."girl, I can do them by myself".

Until the honest moment happened.  She basically said "Leah, you should grow your eyebrows out for 2 months and get them professionally done".  That's basically saying your eyebrows look a mess and you need to get them taken care of asap.

Sooo, I took her advice and grew them out.  I had 2 months of preparing myself for the pain and I ended up getting them threaded. Yes, it hurt...but once she handed me that cotton ball with alcohol on it I jumped out of my seat happily! I'm done I'm done for now at least.  My eyebrows are beautiful now! Thank you girlfriend for your honest moment because I feel like it has completed my face.  My other friend gets her eyebrows waxed. Holy smokes! This girl does not like unnecessary pain.  I do not have any tattoos for a reason and I had my nose pierced in high school and you should have seen my reaction for that.  Check me out! Kbye

You make ALL things new

                                                     2013

New year, new me! I actually hate when people say that because whenever new years eve rolls around my Facebook's timeline is filled with crazies expressing how much weight they will lose or what diet they will be doing for the entire year.  Ok, I am all about goals but some of those statuses are ridiculous! Anyway, there are some things that I want to improve on this year..and I would say they are realistic.

-Keep God first

-Work on my fitness and health

- Think before I speak

-Continue to be a light in this dark world

-Stay out of my feelings

-Make devotions a priority

-Pay student loans back with a smile

-Keep my heels, head, and standards high

-Blog through my twenties

I am excited to tackle these resolutions! I am all about self improvement..i just need to focus on them one by one. Did you accomplish any of your resolutions yet? :) Kbye!

Today

I was jogging on the treadmill today and came to the conclusion that I was going to be open about my love life.  I can be open about this now because 6 months has passed.  During my undergrad...I met a boy, fell in love, and got engaged to him.  We had that best friend type of relationship considering I dated him for 3 years prior to our engagement. We both came from wonderful families and we just knew our lives together were going to be filled with happiness until. . .our personal values weren't matching up anymore.  I am not going to go into detail about it but the mistake that we made was "rushing" our relationship.  I was 22 and he was 19 years old.  So we came to the conclusion to cancel our engagement.
                                                                 I was devastated.

We decided to cut off all ties and that hurt even more.  Even though it hurt, I actually think it was beneficial at the same time to not communicate anymore so he could find himself and work on his personal development.  I can't even express or explain the feeling of losing someone you thought you were going to marry on this blog.  So I'm not going to! This all ended in July 2012 and it is now January 8th, 2013.  It's a new year ladies and gentlemen.
                                                                  Moving On...

I wanted to be open about this chapter in my life to be an example to those who are considering marriage.  It is extremely important to go to counselling! It will help you realize each other's personal values before you decide to say "I do" to that person.  Romans 12: 9-21  is a verse that I believe is extremely important when it comes to marriage.

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord. On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

My favorite part of this verse is: Honor one another above yourselves.  It goes along with the personal values that I mentioned earlier.  All relationships have their ups and downs..I get it.  Just don't ignore the side effects if there noticeable.  I am glad I can be open about this topic now and I am enjoying this peaceful transition that I am currently in.  I know God is still molding and shaping my husband for me.  Until then I will acknowledge the Lord in all my ways and he will make my paths straight. Kbye!

My circle

I am crazy in love with my circle.  If you know me, then you know I love hard!  My family means the world to me and my girlfriends have it all together. no seriously.  I keep positive people around me for a reason because it helps me stay positive as well! My sister and I believe our family should have our own reality TV show because we are hilarious.  My mother would definitely be Kris Jenner off of the Kardashians...she wants to know every single thing my sister and I discuss and it's so funny because we don't tell her.  My dad is a funny character too, he adds his dry humor in our conversations that makes us all laugh.  My awesome brother in law and sister just had a BEAUTIFUL little girl that I am completely obsessed with.  Her name is Lillian Grace  and she has made us all so happy! Get used to the name "Bug" because that is what we call her because of her little body and big eyes! K bye

Meet my family!

                                                         Here are my best girlfriends!

Hello World!

Welcome to my blog!   It's the beginning of the year and I wanted to pick up some new hobbies that allow me to express myself.  Oh and happy new year! There are so many things that I truly love and want to tell the world about and I chose blogging as my new years resolution.  I have been handwriting in my daily journal for about 3 years now and I love to flip back through the pages to see my personal development. Now you can stay tuned as well! Your welcome :) When I am 50 years old, I want to pull my blog up and show my children how cool I was in my twenties.  I also want to share some of my life stories along with inspirational things that I find interesting.  K bye!
