Survivor Skills

As you know, I’ve been working in the mental health field for about 2 years now and it is always fun to think about new therapeutic skills I can do with my kiddies while providing counselling services.  I thought this activity below was cute and I wanted to share it with you!  The activity is called “Let’s make a Pizza.”  This activity below will help students practice following directions.  Kids get to make a pizza and are required to listen to the adult’s directions by calling off “Add 10 pepperonis to the pizza and 8 sausages or whatever is called out.” This activity will benefit the child to practice active listening and following direction the first time given.  I will probably add more to this activity when I am in  a skills session in order to make it more realistic and helpful for the parent/teacher.   An example: Cheese means clean your room.. Pepperoni means put your name on your hw!  All are examples of directions that kiddos need to practice in order to make permanent

Feel free to take this activity and make it your own! Some people use felt instead of construction paperJ

Mooondayyyy

Hiiiiiiii frans!

Easter was fabbb! I am so thankful for Jesus.  He died so we can have eternal life!!!. Now that is LOVE!!!!!  How cute was Lillian on Easter? Love her to pieces!

My word of the week is growth!!! This word is so important to me.  I think about this word often when i am at work or while interacting with other individuals.  It is extremely important to grow in all aspects of your life whether that is spiritually or emotionally.  I have to ask myself “is this helping me grow “or “does this person help me grow.”  It sounds kind of cheesy but sometimes we linger onto things because of security or because it’s comfortable.  It‘s ok to be real with yourself and ask yourself this question when engaging in activities or talking to folks. Surround yourself with positive, uplifting energy!!!! What is your word of the week/month that you want to focus on to unwrap your potential??
growth
  noun
1.
the act or process, or a manner of growing; development; gradual increase.
2.
size or stage of development: It hasn't yet reached its full growth.
3.
completed development.
4.
development from a simpler to a more complex stage: the growth of ritual forms.
5.
development from another but related form or stage: the growth of the nation state.

….and the point of it all…..is to grow J

My best friend just joined the #bad25 club! I am so proud of the woman she has grown to be.  God is doing some amazing things in her life and I am one proud friend! We all came together for her Pinterest party where everyone had to bring 1 recipe or craft to engage in and we also went to coopers hawk! It was definitely a fun birthday and I was glad I was able to celebrate with my doll!

March

Hi friends, Well… I have been on a roller coaster as far as my health.   My sinus infection that I once blogged about  a month ago…..turned into non allergic rhinitis which is a miserable miserable condition of the allergies.  Seriouly, it felt like I was punched in the face 5x all day with the amount of pressure I was dealing with in my sinuses. It was unreal, talk about painful.   Bless my mothers heart because I was soooo emotional because I wanted my health back!!!!!!    I went to my family doctor 3x, ER, and then the ENT (ear, nose, throat) doctor which finally helped me ease the pain and symptoms!  I am grateful for Gods healing over my body and the amount of prayers that I have received! #wonthedoit

Last weekend, I was able to volunteer at Wheeler Mission.  I cooked and served dinner to women and children of all ages who have been either emotionally or physically abused.  It was a wonderful experience and I am glad I am continuing to work on my New Year resolution goal of “serving others”.  When you look for ways to help others, you don't get caught up worrying about yourself.

Wah. I noticed I didn’t even blog about my experience to the Bahamas last month.  It was a great and I am so ready for my next vacation lol!  I was so nervous the first hour of boarding due to it being my first cruise but I had the time of my life.  We celebrated one of my best friends birthday! She turned 25 years old,  and we have been friends for 20 years :] what a blessing! Check out the pics.  Kbye! Xo

Remember he said that our latter days will be greater than our former days :) :) <3 <3

37 days til Spring!

Hi guys! Happy Tuesday :] I am feeling a lot better today thank GOD.  I have been under the weather dealing with a sinus cold and I am taking immune system boosters trying to get back to feeling 100%.   I blame it on the cold considering we have been dealing with -12 degree weather! Wah. Luckily, I will be heading to Miami next week and going on a cruise to the Bahamas for my girls 25th birthday.  I am so excited to do nothing and enjoy the sunshine haha.  I almost forgot what it feels like!

Sooooo I cut the perm off my hair! I cut about 5 inches and that is a huge deal for me.  I’ve always had long hair but I feel like 2014 is all about change for the better.  I am enjoying the new look and I actually like having short hair.  Now my hair will be a lot curlier when I wash it and wear it down. Check out the pics!

 A picture before the cut!

Look at this cutie pie! We had fun coloring last weekend.  I love her so much! She is learning new words and is now calling my mom “mimi”.  We are trying to teach her to say “mi-ma” but babies will pick their own nicknames to call you! She definitely has Aunnie down :] haha! Comment below and tell me how you are doing! Kbye xoxo

Hey beautiful friends, I had an eventful day today!  I was able to see some of my clients, I played with my beautiful niece, and my girl invited me to a boot camp class that was so intense! It felt so good to workout and burn some calories considering this winter has been entirely too cold to work out.  With that being said, I have lost 14lbs because I have shivered the weight off and my appetite has been poor.  I am supposed to work out again on Wednesday at 530am, ahhhh pray for me and that early class! I know it will be beneficial for me knowing I got my workout in!  Plus I need to get ready for the cruise next month. Yessssss.

Well I finally moved in my apartment downtown! I love it and I am so excited to decorate the apartment with my friend of 20 years who is now my roomie.  It is very nice to live with her because we challenge each other to grow and strive to become more Christ like.  I can tell God is working in our lives and we are excited for this journey and new chapter.

I think it’s safe to say that this is the most single and independent that I have ever been in my life. AND I am ok with that.  Its crazy because I have always been courting or talking to someone and I think God has revealed to me that personal growth is important before entering into a relationship.  I have enjoyed this time because I have been able to stay busy by serving others and putting God first in my life.  I have promised myself that I will not enter into a relationship unless we are equally yoked.  I want God to be the center of my relationship.  I want his approval and I don’t want to just go off my emotions.  It will happen on his time! Until then, I am content with traveling, serving, and spending time with my awesome family and girlfriends.
