Hey beautiful friends, I had an eventful day today!  I was able to see some of my clients, I played with my beautiful niece, and my girl invited me to a boot camp class that was so intense! It felt so good to workout and burn some calories considering this winter has been entirely too cold to work out.  With that being said, I have lost 14lbs because I have shivered the weight off and my appetite has been poor.  I am supposed to work out again on Wednesday at 530am, ahhhh pray for me and that early class! I know it will be beneficial for me knowing I got my workout in!  Plus I need to get ready for the cruise next month. Yessssss.

Well I finally moved in my apartment downtown! I love it and I am so excited to decorate the apartment with my friend of 20 years who is now my roomie.  It is very nice to live with her because we challenge each other to grow and strive to become more Christ like.  I can tell God is working in our lives and we are excited for this journey and new chapter.

I think it’s safe to say that this is the most single and independent that I have ever been in my life. AND I am ok with that.  Its crazy because I have always been courting or talking to someone and I think God has revealed to me that personal growth is important before entering into a relationship.  I have enjoyed this time because I have been able to stay busy by serving others and putting God first in my life.  I have promised myself that I will not enter into a relationship unless we are equally yoked.  I want God to be the center of my relationship.  I want his approval and I don’t want to just go off my emotions.  It will happen on his time! Until then, I am content with traveling, serving, and spending time with my awesome family and girlfriends.

Winter Wonderland

Ohhhh winter,

Wow, you have outdone yourself this year! This has truly been a winter that I will never forget.  I remember the storm back in 2009 during undergrad and how we all were stuck in the house for 3 full days… cabin fever for sure.  However,   I am grateful for this time off because I have been able to spend quality time with family and catch up on some personal time with the Lord…and if you look at my new year resolutions below, that was 2 goals of mine.  Now, I just have to keep it up!

There’s only so much you can do around the house… I enjoy going to work, being out in the community and going to the gym! I really don’t watch a lot of television but here lately that’s been the move.  Lord, I am grateful for all seasons but I am excited for the spring to come!!

When boredom strikes.....

I have been glued on the couch…. Mehhh but this hot chocolate was so delishhh.

I am excited for my friends 25th birthday next month! We’re flying to Miami and going on a cruise to the Bahamas.  Now, I am pretty adventurous but this will be a huge step for me considering I will be stuck on a boat! lol..I know we will have fun and it will be something else I can check off in my twenties.  The Lord has blessed me to be able to travel and explore some of his beautiful creations and I am grateful for that.  I would love to go on a missions trip and serve and I have been praying for those opportunities to arise.  Until then, I will get involved in my city!  What have you been up to during this winter storm? I wanted to share this scripture as we remember our 2014 resolutions and new beginnings for this year. Xo!!!

Sweet Potato Pie

My contribution to Thanksgiving  this year was baking my granny’s famous Sweet Potato Pie!   My granny was famous for her pies and my sister and I love baking them to keep the recipe, traditions,  and memories going.  I made a total of 6 pies this year and everyone loved them! We miss and love you grams! Xoxo

*This makes 5-6 pies!

Get:

6 large potatoes

2 1/2 cups sugar

1 1/2 stick butter

Pinch of cinnamon

Pinch nutmeg

1 tbsp vanilla extract

1 cup milk

6 store bought frozen pie crusts

1. Boil the potatoes until tender. When you stick a fork in them it should go in easy but you don't want them to fall apart. It took me about 35-40 mins.

2. Let the potatoes cool and then peel them.

3. Put the potatoes in a large bowl and mash them well. Melt the butter and pour it and the other ingredients in the bowl of potatoes. Stir until well mixed.

4. Spoon the potato mixture into the crust

5. Put into an oven preheated to 375 degrees. Cook for about 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out dry.

#whosbad25

25

I am 25 years old.  Where has the time gone?  I was blessed to have celebrated my 25th birthday in Jamaica on November 9.   If you remember, I went to Jamaica in July and had equal amount of fun on both dates.  I was able to see a lot of familiar faces and it was awesome to hang out with them and relax on the beach.  I love it there! I really want to travel the world and see as many countries as I can.  I am excited for February to come because I will be going to the Bahamas.

It’s about that time for the Holidays to come around and with me turning 25 and all I wanted to take time out to blog about what I am grateful for.  So here we go:]

1.       God- I love that man.  Without him, I am nothing! I keep him in my heart and strive to be Christ like everyday.  My motto: Be a light in this dark world.  I am grateful that I was raised in the church and will train and teach my children about Gods grace and mercy.  Lilly, my niece is going around the house yelling “ tannnk tuu jeeeeesah” which means thank you Jesus! hahaha

  1. Family- I can’t express it enough how much I am grateful for my family.  My parents have been married for 30 years and have such a happy, spontaneous, healthy relationship.  They are great examples for me and that is one of the main reasons why I will not settle.  My sister, brother in law, and my niece are amazing too!  We all keep each other laughing and challenge each other emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

3. Health- Everyday, I pray and thank God for his protection over my health and those around me.  There is so much sickness in the world and it is overwhelming to think about the amount of diseases, infections, and cancers that can affect us.

        4.  Genuine Friends- The group of women that I have in my life are     amazing!!!!! I cherish every single one of them because they are God fearing, intelligent, and beautiful women. I am forever grateful for an amazing network of girls

 5.  Food- I love eating.. but in moderation of course lol.  I am grateful for FOOD! I even have a little happy dance that I do when I eat. Lmao! Some of you know:]

  1. Career/ good education.. I love helping others.  I will always work in a helping field.  I love sociology/social work because I am able to touch the lives of individuals along with the community.

7. Life.

8. Favor – Favor will proceed and follow you wherever you go if you pay your tithes and keep God first! I’m grateful for favor.

9. Being able to travel and explore the world because it is something I am passionate about.

10. Working out, Laughing, blogging, and music.  I am grateful for these adaptive coping skills of mine;]

I am a happy camper.  Check out my #whosbad25 birthday pictures! Xoxo kbye!
